Use lived experience overcoming mental health issues, substance use issues, or coping with trauma to come alongside others traveling similar paths. Help them find stability and sustainable health through encouragement, guidance, and providing hope as a positive role model.
Peer Recovery Support Specialist
Recovery is Possible
TEEM hosts a Peer Recovery Support Specialist Mentorship Training class that helps prepare participants for the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) Peer Certification exam and training. This class is free to participate in, though there are some stipulations.
YOU MUST HAVE:
Six months of active recovery
An ability to articulate your recovery story
A high standard of integrity
GED/High School Diploma
A desire to help other
COURSE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
Must refrain from fraternization with current, past, or present participants
Submit to random UAs
Adhere to a strict attendance policy
Complete a 10-week course
Attend a 90-minute workshop once a week
Complete 8 hours of co-facilitating recovery groups
Complete 8 hours of volunteering with TEEM
